As we learn of the student clubs that are offered this school year, we will list them below with the advisors.
2024 - 2025 QMS AFTER SCHOOL CLUBS
Student Council - Laurie Pepicelli & Erin Erban
The QMS Student Council is a group of students that collaborate with others to impact the school community through events, community building, and service projects. All interested students in grades 6-8 are welcome to join and participate. Meetings will be held after school until 2:45 pm. Students can sign-up for Student Council at the first meeting. Students who cannot or do not attend the first meeting can contract Ms. Pepicelli or Ms. Erban for more info.
Ski Club - Mr. Walsh ****Wait list see link below*****
Come join the QMS community on the slopes of Pat's Peak! The QMS Ski Club travels via coach buses to Pat's Peak on two Saturdays during January and/or February. Rentals and Lessons are available for those that need it. A parent meeting will be taking place at the end of October with signups beginning shortly thereafter. Ski days are Saturday January 11, 2025 & February 1, 2025.

Rock Orchestra - Ms. Erban
The QMS Rock Orchestra is for any student in grades 6-8 who can play strings, guitar, bass guitar, keyboards and/or drums. Students who participate in the QMSRO are able to express their individuality while performing in several concerts throughout the year. Previous experience is required. Rock Orchestra meets on MONDAYS from 2-2:45 in the band room. Rock Orchestra will start on Monday, September 23rd.
Acapella - Erin Erban
“The Stinger Singers”, is open to all students in grades 6 through 8 who have a passion for singing. Whether it's pop, rock, jazz or any other genre, all are welcome to learn to arrange and perform vocal music in an a capella style! Under the guidance of Ms. Erban, members of the club choose the songs they want to sing, create arrangements, and work on individual parts in their meetings. The group will showcase their hard work at events throughout the year. Date to be determined.
Trivia Club - Ms. Donovan
Trivia Club will meet on Mondays twice a month starting September 30th from 2-2:45 with Mrs. Donovan in room 204. Open to grades 6, 7, 8. Bring a pencil and your brain to answer questions on a variety of topics. We will possibly have opportunities to attend competitions at other schools.
QMS Drama - Mr. McCrossan and Mr. Graham
QMS Drama is our after school theater program at QMS. We rehearse and present musicals and plays after school. This year, we will produce a fall play with performances in November, and a spring musical with performances in April.
Auditions are held to determine parts, and all parts are open to any student regardless of grade! The fall musical will have a cast of 20, the spring musical will have a cast of around 60.
Rehearsals run Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays after school from 2pm-3:30pm. If you are cast, not all students are called to every rehearsal. Patrick.McCrossan@mansfieldschools.com

Jazz Band - Ms. Pepicelli and Mr. White
This ensemble is open to any 6th, 7th, and 8th grade student interested in joining. The ensemble works on jazz literature, improvisation, and soloing. The jazz band performs at the band concert and at additional performance opportunities, such as the Council on Aging, the Hornet’s Hive Coffee House, and Great East. Students who play wind instruments, guitars, piano, and drum-set are welcome. Previous experience required! Jazz Band meets THURSDAYS from 2- 2:55 pm. Math Team - Ms. MacMurray
The QMS Math Team is a competitive team made up of sixth, seventh, and eighth graders who enjoy working on mathematics in a cooperative environment. We compete at five meets throughout the year in the Intermediate Mathematics League of Eastern Massachusetts (IMLEM), a collaboration of Massachusetts’ middle schools providing students with a challenging mathematics competition. We also participate in MathCounts, a national math enrichment, coaching & competition program that promotes middle school mathematics achievement in every U.S. state & territory.
Students are invited to join Ms. MacMurray THURSDAYS, starting September 19, from 1:49 to 2:50 after school. All are welcome! Students who cannot or do not attend the first meeting can email Ms. MacMurray at jennifer.macmurray@mansfieldschools.com to join. (And it is never too late to join!)
Tri-M - Ms. Pepicelli and Ms. Erban - Starts 9/11
Tri-M is an internationally recognized music honor society. 7th and 8th grade band, choir and orchestra students can apply for membership at the beginning of the school year. Students will be officially inducted into the honor society when they have met all of the criteria needed for membership. Criteria includes good standing in their school ensemble, good standing in all of their academic classes, and participation in Tri-M events throughout the year. Students will be eligible to join the High School Tri-M Chapter when they move up. Tri-M meets WEDNESDAYS after school.
Running Club - Mrs. Duporte & Mrs. Dubois
Running club information meeting will be next Thursday, September 19th at 2:00 in room 130. In running club students will learn how to properly stretch as well as have an opportunity to run on the track and areas surrounding Qualters. Anyone is welcome to join! If you can't make the information session, please reach out to Mrs. Dubois or Mrs. Duporte. You must have a permission slip signed by a parent/guardian in order to participate and space is limited. If you cannot attend the informational meeting, see Mrs. Duporte or Mrs. Dubois for a permission slip.
Percussion Ensemble - Ms. Pepicelli - Starts Mid-October
Open to all students who are interested in exploring marching percussion instruments for both the drumline and front ensemble. Students DO NOT need to have any previous percussion experience. Students will work with members of our HS percussion ensemble to prepare a piece for competition at our local home show in March . Percussion meets TUESDAYS after school. Rehearsals WILL GO TO 4PM after the winter break. More information to come.
Intramurals - Mr. Vartian and Mr. Otto
Intramurals is a fun and free after school program that offers a great way for students to stay physically active. It runs Monday - Thursday from 1:50 - 2:50 during the fall, winter, and spring seasons in the QMS gym. This program is for all grades levels and a great opportunity to stay physically active after school. Fall session Starting September 16, 2024 ending October 17, 2024 Winter session starting December 9, 2024 ending February 6, 2024 Spring session starting March 31, 2025 ending May 17, 2024
Board Game Club - Mrs. Petrelli and Mr. Shultz
The Board Game Club is geared toward students in 6th, 7th, or 8th grade who have a love for learning new board games or playing games that they have always loved and want to share with their peers. We will meet as a club every week and create small or larger groups to play different board games. Through this club we can make everlasting bonds and we can learn how to work with and cooperate with each other. We have games that can challenge any skill level or interest level. There is definitely something for everyone! Come check out the Board Game Club! Board Game Club sign-ups will be done through Google Classroom. Please listen to the announcements and check the TVs in the hallway. We will start on October 1st, 2024 in Room 148.
True Colors (formerly GSA) - Ms. Pepicelli & Ms Skidmore
The purpose of this student-centered and led group of LGBTQIA+ and ALLY supporters is to promote inclusion and learn how to be more supportive of the diversity of our peers. We will use our meetings to connect with peers, research relevant topics, and discuss ways to promote tolerance and acceptance for ALL people throughout our school. The group meets on MONDAYS in the library. This club is run following the guidance from the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education Safe Schools Program. The Hive Literary Magazine - Ms. Simas & Ms. Herlihy
The Hive is QMS's literary magazine and is a collection of a variety of art, photography, and creative writing from over 100 QMS students across all grade levels. This year's magazine will be our 15th publication. While anyone can submit art and creative writing via their ELA or art teacher, there is a Hive club that runs in the winter and spring where students can create submissions for the magazine as well as curate the submissions from the student body. Dungeons & Dragon Club - Ms. Sheridan
n Dungeons & Dragons, the players form an adventuring party who explore fantasy worlds together as they embark on epic quests and level up in experience. The Dungeon Master (also known as the DM) is the game's referee and storyteller. There's no winning or losing in D&D—at least, not in the conventional way. Meets on Wednesdays Rm 107

Yearbook Club - Renee Skidmore & Molly McConaghy
Yearbook Staff students decide on the overall theme, look, organization, and
contents of the annual yearbook. Weekly there are photos to be taken, edited, uploaded, and arranged in the digital art program on the company website for production. Staff meeting days are Wednesdays, but other days and special events attendance are also possible. New members are invited to join by coming to the meeting in room 207.
(25 students will be the maximum size.)
Best Buddies - Ms. McPherson Mrs. Higgins Christina Robles
Best Buddies provides an opportunity to build friendships between students with and without disabilities. The purpose of Best Buddies is to meet new people and develop friendships. We will meet one Thursday a month (dates to be determined). Please email Heather McPherson at heather.mcpherson@mansfieldschools.com if you are interested or have any questions!
Crochet Club - Mrs. Martinelli and Ms. Charette
Crochet Club is for all students who are interested in learning to crochet or already have experience. Students will be taught the basic stitches needed to create animals (amigurumi), scarves, bags and more. Basic supplies are provided to help students get started. We will meet on Tuesdays starting on 9/24.
SRO Gaming Club - Officer McCune
Video Game club that meets on Mondays and Wednesdays. Sign up outside of Officer McCune’s office.
